PromoFinch

Check your first promotion

PromoFinch checks supported percentage discounts against the price and estimated gross-margin limits you choose. It reads your catalog and discounts; you make any changes in Shopify.

  1. Open PromoFinch in Shopify Admin. Choose Standard on Shopify’s plan selection page. The plan is USD 19 per 30 days with a seven-day trial. Shopify shows the charge before you approve it.
  2. Check data readiness. Add a cost per item in Shopify for the products you want to check. Your staff account needs permission to view product costs.
  3. Set your limits. Choose your lowest acceptable price, minimum estimated gross margin and maximum discount. You can add exceptions by product tag, product type or vendor.
  4. Add a promotion. If no discount is ready, use “Open Shopify discounts” in PromoFinch to create or update a basic product-percentage discount with a future end date and at least one matching product. Save it in Shopify, return to PromoFinch and refresh the page. Choose the discount, give the promotion a name and run its first check.
  5. Review the results. Open each issue to see the inputs, calculation and applied rule. Follow the product link to make corrections in Shopify, then check again.
  6. Follow your promotion. If the first check passes, monitoring starts automatically with the saved prices as its baseline. If it is blocked, fix the issues and select “Check again now”. A complete, passing check starts monitoring if the promotion has not ended. The app checks changes during the campaign and compares prices with the baseline after the campaign and your chosen waiting period.

What the results mean

A completed check with no detected issues means the available data met your selected rules at that time. It is not a guarantee about checkout, future changes or profit. A blocked or incomplete check cannot confirm the promotion and does not resolve earlier issues.

Which discounts can I use?

Basic product-percentage discount codes and automatic discounts with supported product or collection targets. Fixed amounts, buy-X-get-Y, free shipping, customer-specific conditions and app-based discounts are outside the supported set. The app explains unavailable discount setups in data readiness.

How is gross margin calculated?

Estimated gross margin = (effective price − cost per item) ÷ effective price × 100. Calculations use the shop’s base currency. Shipping, taxes, payment fees, returns and advertising costs are excluded. Gross margin is not net profit; missing cost is never treated as zero.

Email alerts and history

Enable alerts in Settings and choose a recipient. Alerts report meaningful changes instead of repeating unchanged findings. Open a promotion to review previous checks and export its issue report as CSV. Turning email alerts off removes the saved recipient. If your provider reports an undeliverable address or a spam complaint, alerts pause. Check the address before enabling them again; promotion checks continue.

Billing and cancellation

Manage your plan through Shopify. Uninstall the app in Shopify Admin to cancel its subscription and stop monitoring. Shopify manages billing and trial eligibility; reinstalling does not guarantee a new trial.
